What Kids Learn In Hip Hop Class

Hip hop is a choreography-based style set to current music.

Students work on:

  • Learning and retaining choreography

  • Rhythm and timing

  • Isolations and body control

  • Coordination and stamina

  • Performance quality and confidence

Hip hop is often a first dance class for kids, since it doesn't require prior training to jump into.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

Hip hop classes at DMDC are grouped by level.

  • Beginner for kids with no experience or a little

  • Intermediate for kids who've trained and can pick up choreography

  • Advanced for experienced dancers working on harder material

Call the studio and we'll place your child in the right level.

Open To All Kids

Hip hop at DMDC is open to boys and girls alike. Kids can start at any age, at any level, with or without a dance background.

Hip Hop Alongside Other Styles

Many DMDC students start with one style and add more over time.

Hip hop combines well with the studio's other classes:

  • Technique class builds control that carries into hip hop movement

  • Acrobatics adds tricks that show up in hip hop choreography

  • Jazz shares performance skills and choreography retention

Your child can take hip hop on its own or alongside anything else on the schedule.
